The four Lynnwood City Council members elected in November will take office Nov. 12.

Re-elected City Councilman Loren Simmonds and newly elected Councilman Sid Roberts will take the oath of office at the Dec. 12 council meeting because it is the last of the year, as will newly elected Councilman Benjamin Goodwin. Goodwin took the oath Nov. 30 — after defeating appointed Councilman Ed dos Remedios — for the last few weeks of the old term in addition to the full four-year term.

Goodwin said Dec. 5 that he would take a second oath on Dec. 6.

The winner of the recount between incumbent Councilman Jim Smith and challenger Van AuBuchon also may take the oath if one is certified as winner Friday.

AuBuchon leads Smith by 12 votes going into the Wednesday recount,

Goodwin defeated dos Remedios 50 percent to 49 percent in results of the Nov. 8 general election certified Nov. 29; Simmonds defeated challenger Michael Moore 52 percent to 47 percent; and Roberts defeated incumbent Councilman Ted Hikel 51 percent to 47 percent.
