Flood watch issued; sandbags available

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the much of western Washington forecasting 4-plus inches of rain over the next 48 hours. Local areas in north King and south Snohomish counties are expected to have lowland and urban stream flooding.

Sandbagging may become necessary to help protect private property from urban flooding. Sandbags and sand are generally available at the local hardware warehouse stores and co-ops.

As a back-up measure, several city governments are providing sandbags and sand to their residents threatened by flood waters. Generally, citizens are required to fill their own sandbags and should bring a shovel to do so. Citizens should call first where indicated, to access the location. Sandbags are available at these locations during regular business hours:

City of Brier

Sand and sandbags available for public use located at Brier Park in the north parking lot next to the restrooms.

Cities of Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace

The joint Lynnwood-Mountlake Terrace Public Works Facility located at:

6204 215th St SE, Mountlake Terrace.

This facility is usually not open to the public or well lit, so please enter the area with caution and ask for assistance. Call 911 after business hours if you need emergency sandbags.

City of Edmonds

Edmonds citizens should call public works at 425-771-0235 from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm or 911 after business hours if they need emergency sandbags.

Town of Woodway

Woodway residents should contact Terry Bryant at 206-542-0183 for sandbags.

City of Lake Forest Park

City of Kenmore:
