Patricia Meeker, a commissioner for the Olympic View Water and Sewer District, was elected vice president of the board of directors for the Washington Association of Sewer and Water Districts during its annual meeting Sept. 22 in Sea-Tac.
She also received an award in recognition of continued adherence to commissioner certification guidelines in the organization’s Leadership Development Program in 2006.
Meeker serves as secretary of the state organization. She will begin her two-year term as vice president on Jan. 1. A member of the board of the local district for 18 years, Meeker also has served as president of the state association.
The Washington Association of Sewer and Water Districts represents the state’s 176 special purpose sewer and water districts. Those districts provide services to 30 percent of the population in Washington.
The association provides education and assistance for elected district commissioners and continuing education classes for certified water and wastewater treatment plant operators. It also represents special purpose districts in the state legislature and with state and local agencies.
