Precinct caucuses for Snohomish County Democrats and Republicans are taking place in the next week.

The Democratic caucuses for the 44th Legislative District take place from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, March 4 at the Snohomish High School gymnasium, 1316 5th St. The local caucuses are part of a state-wide event.

The Republican caucuses take place Tuesday, March 7 at various sites around the county.

The caucuses, which take place every two years, are an opportunity for Republicans and Democrats to discuss candidates and issues, and to elect delegates to represent their precinct at their parties county convention.

The delegates who attend the Snohomish County Republican Convention will approve candidates to be placed on the Republican primary ballot and approve the county platform. They also elect delegates to represent Snohomish County at the state convention.

The Snohomish County Democratic Convention will be on Saturday, April 8, and the 44th District Caucus on April 22. The state Democratic convention is June 6 in Yakima.
