This past week, 680 enthusiastic third-graders from nine Shoreline elementary schools plus the Home Exchange and Room Nine Programs received the gift of new illustrated dictionaries from The Rotary Club of Shoreline, The Rotary Club of Shoreline Breakfast, and The Rotary Club of Lake Forest Park.

Rotary District 5030 started this program as part of Rotary International’s goal to improve literacy in the world. The dictionaries are a fun and valuable tool for students as they enter the reading phase of their learning.

Rotary Club members gathered to label books before fanning out across the school district to present the dictionaries to the eager students, some of whom may not have been able to afford such a resource on their own.
