Where to see movies under the stars

Summer nights are the best times for star-gazing. We’re talking stars on the big screen, though.

Communities all over the area are offering free outdoor movies, some old, some new, and most are family fare. Bring chairs and blankets and spread out on the grass. Here’s the lineup:

Brier’s SeaScare movie

In conjunction with Brier’s annual SeaScare and Porchlight Parade on Aug. 11, they’re showing a free movie at 23631 Brier Road in the Brier Pizza and Pasta parking lot. Bring lawn chairs and enjoy cartoons until the movie begins at dusk, approximately 9:15 p.m.

• Aug. 11: “The Bride of Frankenstein” (1935), unrated.

Edmonds Outdoor Movie Nites

Free movies at dusk on Fridays at the Frances Anderson Center Playfield, 700 Main St., Edmonds. Bring blankets or chairs. Call 425-771-0230 for more information.

• July 30: “The Tale of Despereaux” a misfit mouse with big ears (2008), rated G.

• Aug. 6: “Footloose,” Kevin Bacon legalizes dancing (1984), rated PG.

Cinema Under the Stars

Everett Parks and Recreation’s free family film nights at dusk on Fridays at Camp Patterson Field at Thornton A. Sullivan Park, 11405 Silver Lake Road, Everett. Entertainment begins at 7:30 p.m. Bring chairs and blankets. Call 425-257-8322 for more information.
