50 years ago (1962)

In Marysville Roy G. Rossman, Order of Amaranth Social Club met and Olive Buttke was elected president; Mae Helgeson, vice president; Vida Neubecker, secretary; and Hazel Breitkreitz, publicity.

One of the first pickers into the field at the Paul Due farm north of Marysville was Dean Collins, 12, of 2020 Cleveland Ave. In his second year of berry picking, he planned on being the fields as much as possible to build up his bank account.

25 years ago (1987)

Two former Everett High athletes, Husky quarterback Chris Chandler and Minnesota Viking placekicker Chuck Nelson, were joining Snohomish County amateur golf champ Todd Tibke and Everett Golf and Country club assistant pro Brent Webber in a golfing marathon next week to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

Baytown Calendar of Special Events for the rest of the month included an Interior Design Seminar by Phyllis Macay at Behar’s Furniture and Carpets, Music of the ’60s pops concern by the Everett Symphony with Paul Elliott Cobbs conducting, a nostalgic Fashion Show at Everett Public Market, and a demonstration of downriggers and electronics at Jerry’s Surplus.
