Everett Community College will hold its third job fair of the year Thursday, but this one will be quite a bit different than its predecessors.

Instead of a forum designed primarily to help eager companies find scarce employees, this one will also help job seekers put their best foot forward with seminars to help them compete for a shrinking pool of jobs.

As usual, there will be plenty of companies looking for workers either now or in the future.

Some 60 firms, ranging from Eddie Bauer to the U.S. Air Force, will have representatives on hand to talk about their company, its benefits and its hiring and employment practices. Some will also be interviewing prospective workers at the fair, which runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Jackson Center and Parks Student Union.

New this time are the four seminars:

  • 11 a.m. — Feng Shui for the job seeker by Jen Maurice.

  • Noon — Creating an online resume by Mike Longley of The Herald.

  • 1 p.m. — Knock ‘em dead resumes by Spencer Vaden of North Snohomish County Health System.

  • 2 p.m. — Working for a company that respects diversity by Karyn Zigler of the Snohomish County Human Resources department.

The presenters will also answer questions after the seminars.

Parking at the college is limited, so attendees are asked to look for spaces at Furniture Factory Outlet at N. Broadway and Tower Street. Buses will shuttle attendees from the lot to the job fair.
