19-year-old dies while ‘showing off’ motorcycle

RENTON – A 19-year-old man was killed when he crashed his motorcycle Sunday on a street that’s a popular spot for illegal street racing, police said.
Joshua R. Colson of Algona died at the scene, the King County Medical Examiner’s Office said. Renton police said Colson was traveling about 75 mph on Oaksdale Avenue about 1:20 a.m. when he smashed into a car turning left.
About 150 people were watching Colson when he crashed. Friends and other witnesses said Colson was “showing off,” not racing.

On Saturday, the ninth-grader at Totem Junior High got his wish. The guitar’s maker, Gibson, picked up $6,500 of the cost of the instrument. Now, he just has to learn to play it. Doctors hope there will be plenty of time for that. After surgery and chemotherapy, his Hodgkin’s disease is in remission.
