Once again, people stepped up to help

It is difficult to adequately express our appreciation for the extreme kindness our community shows the Sky Valley Food Bank. But we will try! For those of us who see the people in need, we want to express our gratitude to all the folks who had Thanksgiving food drives for us. Dozens of businesses, church groups, scout troops and schools worked their hearts out to provide for their neighbors in need. How grateful we are to each of you for helping reduce hunger in our community. The love and good charity of our community members is overwhelmingly amazing.

Not having enough food for one’s family and self is extremely stressful and can bring feelings of hopelessness. Picture yourself as one of these families standing in line, in the cold and in the rain … waiting … and then the doors open, the lights are on, smiles are waiting and piles of food are placed in a box for you! Burdened hearts are lifted and lightened. The obvious relief we see on the faces of the people is rewarding to say the least.

Because of you, “The Community Who Cares,” no person need go hungry and especially, without Thanksgiving dinner! We were able to provide turkey and all the trimmings to nearly 400 families! And we know some of you are not finished with us yet! Your Christmas food drives, fundraisers and toy drives will help us provide toys to more than 600 kids and food throughout the remaining winter months!

We at the food bank are deeply touched by the tremendous kindness shown to your neighbors in need. On behalf of the hundreds who benefit from your generosity, our most sincere appreciation. Happiest of holidays!
