Actions purely political and theatrical

I suppose I’m only one of countless American citizens wondering on Thanksgiving morning, “What in the world was he thinking about?” In my opinion, George W. Bush has once again shown what a true theatrical buffoon he is. What’s with this clandestine trip into Iraq? It has to be purely politics. The way he was introduced from behind a camouflaged curtain was choreographed in true Hollywood style. Like a bad dream, it was dj vu all over again. Just as he did after his arrival on the USS Lincoln, there he stood at the podium in front of the troops in the mess hall and shed his obligatory tear or two.
Then on top of it all was Condoleezza Rice’s quote of “the total surprise and the kind of wonder, made the whole thing worth it.” Oh good Lord, give me a break. I hate to wonder how much this trip cost the American public because I’ll sure bet it didn’t come out of his campaign war chest.
However, on the amusing side of this story is Hillary Clinton, spending some quality Thanksgiving time, on taxpayer money, in Afghanistan and then on to Baghdad, campaigning. I can only imagine how upset she was to find out she had been upstaged by the president. Hey, sounds like a movie to me!
