With construction of the plant and installation of equipment ahead of schedule, paper went on the reel of Scott Paper Co.’s high-speed machine for the first time. It was part of a trial run, vice president Paul Baldwin said. The mill would be in full operation in 1954.
Marysville residents were proud of the community Christmas tree put up between the North City Pharmacy and Thornberry Motors. It stood 35- feet high and was covered with more than 1,000 lights.
Construction of the headquarters for the Frontier Bank in Everett began. The $450,000 building was expected to be completed by the middle of next year. President Robert Dickson said Solie Construction was the contractor. The bank was operating from a mobile office on the site adjacent to Albertson’s on Evergreen Way.
Pioneer First Federal Savings and Loan opened its new Lynnwood branch office near the Landmark Inn on 200th Street, its 12th president Ralph Schapler said. David Turner was manager.
