Numerous fender-benders follow icy roads

Slick roads Sunday led to a number of minor accidents in Island and northern Snohomish counties, Washington State Patrol spokesman Lt. Jeff Jones said.

"We haven’t had any serious collisions, but we’ve had a lot of minor fender-benders," Jones said Sunday night. "It’s basically been people driving too fast for conditions. People just aren’t adjusting their driving to changing conditions."

Roads were icy Sunday because water on roads was turning to ice, and because of freezing rain and snow.

"People are losing control of their cars and are either going off the roadway or striking other cars," Jones said.
