Late goal gives Terrace a tie with Everett

EVERETT — Mountlake Terrace’s Jonathan Carreno scored with less than three minutes remaining in regulation, forcing overtime and an eventual 1-1 tie with Everett Tuesday in a Western Conference South boys soccer match played at Everett Memorial Stadium.

"We’ve really been gearing up for Mountlake Terrace," Everett coach Tod Uderitz said. "We lost to them 5-0 last time we played them. We played very well. I think this was our best game of the season so far."

The Seagulls (0-1-1 league, 1-8-2 overall) struck first on a goal by senior Jacob Ogden in the 23rd minute. It was Ogden’s fourth goal this season and his third in the past two games.

"Eric (Schmits) headed a pass to Jacob and he went one-on-one with Terrace’s goalkeeper. It was a very nice goal," Uderitz said.

After being slowed for 37 minutes in the final half, the Hawks (2-1-1, 6-2-3) dealt the tying blow after Carreno broke free 15 yards out and fired a low shot past Everett netminder Steven Nazario.

"We had been playing very good defense," Uderitz said. "We were just tired. It was a mental error. But nevertheless, I think this was one our best performances."
