50 years ago (1954)

The Rev. Samuel Carlson was the new minister of Grace Methodist Church at 24th Street and Summit Avenue in Everett. His appointment marked a homecoming. Carlson was born and raised in Everett. Before coming here he served at Allen Methodist Church in Burlington.

Some of the popular summer camps were the Camp Fire Girls’ Camp Killoqua on Crabapple Lake, the Boy Scouts’ Camp Mathews on Lake Kelcema and Camp Sevenich on Lake Connor, the Silverton County School camp, the YMCA’s Camp Hoopenholler at Tulalip and the School Safety Patrol Camp on Silver Lake.

25 years ago (1979)

Cathryn Ronnestad of Lake Stevens was awarded the Mildred B. Wohlford High scholarship at Washington State University. A pre-physical therapy major, she earned the award for having the highest grade point average for seven consecutive semesters in the department of physical education for women.

Ricville Farm near Snohomish was the top-producing herd of those tested in May by the Dairy Herd Improvement Association. The top-producing cow was a Holstein with 24,411 pounds of milk and 976 pounds of butterfat during the year.
