Carol Nelson, Cascade Bank president and chief executive, has received a Women of Influence award from the Puget Sound Business Journal. Nelson was honored for large business leadership by the publication, which created the award program this year.
Robert Uptagrafft has been named account manager for Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties at Washington Manufacturing Services, a not-for-profit consulting organization in Mukilteo.
Michael Harmon has been named president at Coast Equity Partners, a real estate investment firm closely affiliated with Coast Real Estate Services of Everett.
Barry L. Seidman has been named a board member with Helix BioMedix, an early stage biotechnology company in Bothell.
Stu Schell has been named the Snohomish County representative of the National Association for the Self-Employed. Schell is the president and CEO of Insurance by Design in Mill Creek, which focuses on the health insurance needs of micro-business owners.

Microvision Inc., a light-scanning technology company in Bothell, has been named by IEEE Media’s Spectrum Magazine as one of “Ten Tech Companies for the Next 10 Years.” In related news, the company has been selected as runner-up in the Wireless category in the 2004 Technology Innovation Winners by the Wall Street Journal for its Nomad Expert Technician System. The invention is the world’s first wearable computer with a head-worn see-through display that enables workers to connect to their networks wirelessly and receive information at the point of task.
