Thanks to teachers who give so very much

It was a heartwarming picture on the front page of The Herald on May 29, showing Paula and Steve Boyce, both teachers, serving lunch to three happy boys at their home. What a wonderful and unforgettable time Paula and Steve are giving these boys. Just think, Paula and Steve have been doing this for 30 years. How thoughtful and generous! Thank you!
As parents, we forget how instrumental our teachers are in shaping our future through their students and appreciate knowing how important they truly are. As a volunteer at school, I see so many things the teachers do for our children, besides teaching. They listen to many voices, tears and smiles, too. We need to walk in their shoes sometimes!
We had a tradition at our home in which we always invited the children’s teacher home for refreshment after school. Our children always felt so proud and happy to have their teacher come to our home. They loved helping being hostess or host – of course, I enjoyed getting better acquainted with their teacher, and I think it meant a lot to the teacher. I think it is very important that teachers and parents work together to help with our children’s education.
Thank you to all teachers.
