50 years ago (1957)
Richard Million, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Million of Everett, was recently promoted to corporal, it was learned today from Tech. Sgt. John Pracanica, Marine recruiter here. Cpl. Million was stationed with the Marine Air Wing in Iwakuni, Japan, where he was an aviation mechanic.
Joan Eshe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loe Eshe of Index, was awarded a four-week scholarship for summer study at the Novikoff Conservatory of Fine Arts in Seattle. The scholarship would include instruction in ballet, art, music appreciation and French. She had also been offered a full scholarship for study at the Metropolitan Opera School in New York.
25 years ago (1982)
Dr. Craig Karpilow was the president of the new Snohomish-East County Rotary Club, which would observe its charter night at Everett Pacific Hotel. Everett Rotary Club was the sponsoring organization.
A donation of $500 was made to the Lake Roesiger Fire Department by the Pilchuck Breakfast Club, a group that raised funds for fire departments in Lake Stevens, Lake Roesiger and Snohomish. Members met for breakfast at Doc’s Pilchuck Tavern at Machias.
