New English instructors at Everett Junior college this fall were James Hamilton, former Everett resident who was returning after two years teaching at Yakima Valley Junior college, and Judith Irwin of Seattle who had been on the staff of the University of Washington extension division for three years.
A large number of juniors were learning to bowl at the new Tyee Bowl from Mrs. Daly, Loretta Stanton and Dick Elwood. Among them were Greg Elwood, Pamela Marysfield, Janet Moorehouse, Carol Schmidt and Curt Romaneschi.

Bicyclists, including Ray Kosiba of Everett, Kevin Hansen of Marysville and Steven Walker of Lynnwood, were to arrive in Long Beach, California, ending a 10-week-long, 4,400-mile ride from Anchorage, Alaska, to raise money for mental health associations. The group of 24 riders looked great when they passed through this area late in July.
Silvana, located midway between Arlington and Stanwood had only a handful of businesses such as KC’s Country Store and Cafe and Silvana Mercantile. Long-time residents Clarence and Eleanor Monson remembered when the town was on the main road between Everett and Bellingham and had four gas stations.
