Everett: Colby Tower gets tax break
The City Council recently extended a decade-long property tax break for a luxury nine-unit condominium building planned for the southwest corner of Colby Avenue and 26th Street.
The decision marks the second time a building with fewer than 40 units has qualified for the incentive program designed to spur high-density development downtown.
In March, the council changed the program’s rules to include smaller condo and apartment buildings, with as few as eight units.
Buildings previously were required to have at least 20 units to be eligible.
Plans for the nine-story building call for ground-floor retail shops and a mix of parking, offices and condos upstairs. The building would be topped by a rooftop garden with views of the mountains and water.
Colby Tower is a project of Timothy and Donna Corpus, who own Studio Donna Salon Spa in downtown Everett.
Mukilteo: Council discusses annexation
An agreement that describes how municipal responsibilities would change if the Meadowdale area is annexed is scheduled for a vote during Monday’s Mukilteo City Council meeting.
The meeting will be 7 p.m. at City Hall, 4480 Chennault Beach Road.
The city is planning an annexation of the Meadowdale area, north of Lynnwood near the waterfront.
Before annexation can occur, the city must reach an agreement with Snohomish County about how the area would continue to be provided services, and by whom, if voters approve an annexation.
The city of Lynnwood has also expressed interest in annexing the area.
