Sultan: Former chief’s appeal denied

A Snohomish County Superior Court judge on Wednesday denied an appeal from former Sultan Police Chief Fred Walser. Walser wanted the judge to review the city’s civil service commission’s decision to deny him a hearing after he was placed on administrative leave.

The judge said that since Walser had already announced plans to resign, Walser gave up his right to a hearing, Walser’s attorney J.C. Becker said.

Sultan city officials said Walser is under investigation for wrongdoing at the police department.

Walser plans to file a lawsuit against the city, Becker said.
