Sophomores at Everett High School, nearly 800 of them, named their class officers. Elected to head the class for the year was Jim Hopkins, former president of the North Junior High School Associated Students. Hopkins would be assisted by Randy Smith as vice president; Tom Harpham, secretary; and Sharon Johnson, treasurer. John Rudolph was the faculty adviser for the group.
Dale Harless was elected president for Lynnwood Junior High School Student Body Organization. Other officers elected were Dale Leatherman and Dan Arnim, vice presidents; Donna Derkacht, secretary; and San Beesley, treasurer.

Lake Stevens High School football coach Kevin Thomas was happy that his Vikings were shelling defenses with passes. Much of the success was credited to junior quarterback Dave Powroznik and receivers senior Mike Holguin and junior Brian Slater. Thomas was glad he wasn’t coaching against them.
