Sample music classes for kids

Kindermusik offers a Demo Day on Friday at the Everett Symphony.

Kindermusik, a national music program, will demonstrate a variety of its music classes for newborns to kids up to age 7. The goal is to bring a permanent Kindermusik program to downtown Everett.

The demonstration class schedule at 2710 Colby Ave. is as follows:

10 a.m.: Our Time, 17 months to 3 years

10:45 a.m.: Sign and Sing, newborn to 3 years

11:30 a.m.: Imagine That! 3 to 5 years

12:15 p.m.: Young Child, 5 to 7 years.

The first Kindermusik semester is 15 weeks and would run from Nov. 2 to March 7.

Fire prevention week in Monroe

The Monroe Fire District offers an open house in conjunction with national Fire Prevention Week. The theme this year is “Practice Your Escape Plan.”

An open house is planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 163 Village Court. The event includes safety and injury prevention information, fire extinguisher training, a kids’ hose line, a fire safety trailer, demonstrations in removing victims from car wrecks and fire truck rides.

There will also be information to help people create a home fire escape plan.

Workshop to teach money skills

Learn how to discuss financial issues at a workshop at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Lynnwood Library, 19200 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood.

Talking About Money with Your Family is led by Andrea Misiano of Consumer Counseling Northwest. Topics will include how to say “no” when your children ask for money, or how to define a financial emergency. Call the library at 425-778-2148.
