ARLINGTON — An 8-year-old boy was airlifted to a Seattle hospital and two other children were injured in a crash on Highway 530 earlier today.
The crash happened at Whitman Road outside Oso. A woman was driving westbound on the highway when she reportedly drove across the center line and collided with a van loaded with six children, Washington State Patrol trooper Kirk Rudeen said.
The impact of the crash spun the van around and it struck a power pole.
The boy was taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center. Two other children were hospitalized. The nature of their injuries is unknown.
The driver of the van is the mother of some of the children. Others are friends or relatives, Rudeen said.
The highway has been closed. The crash remains under investigation.
