50 years ago (1957)
Martha Muckey of the Washington state Department of Public Assistance spoke to the Central Lady Lions at a luncheon in the home of Nada Oars. Assisting at the luncheon were Fern Rigby and Catherine Buennagel. Nordica Wiggins presided over the business session and Amy Blakeley introduced the guest speaker.
W.O. “Bill” Erbes, longtime resident of Everett, had joined the sales staff of Allen Buick Co. in Everett. Erbes had been a factory representative for major appliances for the past eight years, leaving the work to be closer to home.
25 years ago (1982)
Katy Taylor, 10, concentrated on “The 1812 Overture” during an Everett Youth Symphony rehearsal. The Youth Symphony was opening its 17th season with a three-selection concert in the Marysville-Pilchuck High School auditorium.
Those looking for an unusual Christmas gift, brass rubbings from the tombs of England, might be in luck. Mukilteo’s Friends of the Library were holding a workshop where participants would make a small rubbing for $7.50, or a large for $15. The cost included all materials and an information sheet on the history of the characters. Those needing additional information could contact Shirlee Dessert.
