Monroe falls 57-44 to unbeaten Issaquah

BOTHELL — Unbeaten Issaquah jumped out to a seven-point lead in the first quarter en route to a 57-44 non-conference victory over Monroe in the Oh Boy Oberto Classic.

Monroe’s Emily Drivstuen scored 12 points and pulled down nine rebounds and Sammi Clark and Suzanna Ohlsen each chipped in eight points for the Bearcats.

Issaquah’s Alyssa Shoji led all scorers with 20 points.

Monroe faces the Bothell vs. Kentwood loser at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in consolation play.

Archbishop Murphy 57, Gig Harbor 34: At Buckley, Alyssa Smith scored Archbishop Murphy’s first seven points as the Wildcats got out to a 9-0 lead in the White River Tournament game. Smith, who finished with 13 points, also had eight rebounds. Murphy’s Nickole Bartholomew made three 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 20 points.

Sequim 47, South Whidbey 44: South Whidbey’s Lindsey Newman scored 28 points but it wasn’t enough as Sequim defeated the Falcons in the opening round of the Port Townsend Tournament.

Shoreline Christian 76, Rainier Christian 22: At Shoreline, Shoreline Christian used pressure defense to force Rainier Christian into a number of early turnovers to take a non-conference victory in the Oak Leaf Classic. Shoreline Christian’s Angela Woods posted a triple-double with 31 points, 10 rebounds and 12 steals. Teammate Angela DeKoekkoek had 18 points, 10 rebounds and six steals. And Shoreline Christian point guard Ann Barrick hit two 3-pointers and chipped in five steals and six assists. Brittany Austin, Ashley Decker and Laurel Rush each scored six points for Rainier Christian. Shoreline Christian will play Sunnyside Christian in the championship match today at noon.
