MONROE — Dave Telford is Monroe High School’s new head football coach.

Telford, who previously coached at the college level, accepted the job Tuesday, Monroe athletic director Brett Wille said.

Telford served as the offensive coordinator at Portland State University for four seasons before resigning in 2005. He replaces former Monroe football coach Steve Hannan, who led the Bearcats program for three years. Hannan was told in November his contract would not be renewed.

A quarterback at Stanwood High School and Fresno State University, Telford is the son of former Stanwood football coach Phil Telford.
