50 years ago (1958)

Ruth Kalstad, Violet Welty and Mary Kent were arranging Easter decorations for the Everett Municipal Golf Club Ladies Spring Breakfast. Decorations included pastel bunnies, Easter baskets and Easter egg candle favors adorned with flowers and ribbons. The event would mark the formal opening of the busy season of golf planned by Helen Odegard.

Employees of Scott Paper Co. took a refresher course in industrial first aid under the direction of Bob Ludwick. Men in the class included Jack Kramer, Bob Dyer, Mel Engnes, Wally Meyer, E.A. Mattson, W.H. Monohan, R.P. Graham and Charles Lawrence.

25 years ago (1983)

Over at Washington State University, Diane Petosa and Curtis Rider, both Everett students majoring in hotel and restaurant administration, would take part in a seminar at the University of Munich in Germany. Twenty WSU students would be in attendance.

Rhonda Mary Short of Lynnwood, a student at Edmonds Community College, was awarded her second tuition scholarship from the Olympus Terrace Garden Club of Mukilteo. A 1982 Mariner High School graduate, she was a member of the state FFA horticulture team that took part in a national competition in Kansas City, Mo., in November.
