Everett

Cultural commission supporting the arts

The Everett Cultural Arts Commission recently awarded $20,000 in grants to 14 arts organizations.

Awards ranged from $4,000 for the Everett Symphony to $500 for The Dance School.

Commissioners award grants based on criteria such as nonprofit status and ability to provide matching funds.

This year’s grant recipients are: Village Theater, Historic Everett Theatre, Olympic Ballet Theatre, Everett Youth Symphony, Northwest Savoyards, Arts Council of Snohomish County, The Dance School, Snohomish County Arts Commission, Everett Chorale, Everett Women’s Film Festival, Snohomish County Music Teachers Association, Imagine Children’s Museum, KSER public radio and Everett Symphony.

Mill Creek

Comments welcome for facilities plan

The public is invited to comment on the city of Mill Creek’s plan for capital projects through 2015.

The city’s Capital Facilities Plan, required by the state Growth Management Act, lists projects planned to be built, as well as their costs and funding sources.

The current plan, which covers 2007 to 2013, can be viewed in the public works section of the city’s Web site at www.cityof millcreek.com.

Snohomish

Downtown group selects new leaders

Dena Marie and Wayne Warren have been appointed as co-directors of Historic Downtown Snohomish, a group of businesspeople that promote the downtown area. An open house is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the group’s office, which is upstairs in the yellow building behind Fred’s Rivertown Alehouse, 1114 First St.

TB suffering invited

The Snohomish Health District and the Snohomish County RESULTS organization plan an evening of songs and stories connected to people who have been affected by tuberculosis as part of World TB Day. The event begins at 7 tonight at Wired and Unplugged Internet Cafe, 717 First St., Snohomish.
