EVERETT – An Everett man was arrested this morning after leading police on a chase and flashing a gun in a high school parking lot, police said.

The incident began around 8:30 a.m. at Cascade High School, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.

Police were called after a man apparently flashed a gun at a student and fled in a black Acura Integra, which police later determined had been stolen in Kirkland, he said. Police believe the man may have been scanning the parking lot to steal a car when a student saw him.

Car prowls in high school parking lots are an increasing problem, he said.

The high school has gone into modified lockdown for the rest of the school day, restricting access to the school, Goetz said.

Everett police and Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies caught up with the fleeing suspect near the Albertsons at Evergreen Way and Madison Street, Goetz said. The pursuit continued until the vehicle stopped near the intersection of 3rd Avenue SE and 128th Street SE.

An Everett man, 22, was arrested. He’s expected to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of possession of stolen property and attempting to elude police, Goetz said. The man also may be booked for investigation of unlawful display of a weapon.
