Prep soccer roundup: Jackson shuts down Shorewood

EVERETT — Jackson’s loss to Kamiak last Thursday not only was its first of the season, it also knocked the Timberwolves out of first place in the Wesco South standings.

So how did the Timberwolves respond? By shutting out undefeated Shorewood — the team who leapfrogged Jackson into first place — by a score of 3-0 on Monday.

“We got out butts handed to us last week against Kamiak,” said Jackson coach Brett Norton. “For us to turn around and respond like (this) and solidify first place in Wesco is a big accomplishment.”

Tye Hastings scored two goals and Devin Mendiola added one for Jackson, who moved back into first place with the victory.

Kevin Springer recorded the shutout at goalkeeper for Jackson.

At Everett Memorial Stadium

Monroe 2, Oak Harbor 1 OT: At Oak Harbor, Monroe’s Jack Fortune scored a goal on an assist in the 83rd minute from Manny Aguirre to break the tie and win the Wesco North game against Oak Harbor. Shane McDivitt also scored for the Bearcats and Kevin Flavin scored the lone goal for Oak Harbor.
