Snow show almost set to go

Catch them while you can, because the snow geese in the lower Stilly Valley are preparing to head back to their summer nesting ground on Wrangell Island in the Arctic Ocean. Inside a month from now, they’ll be gone.

Lighthouse opens for spring, summer

The Mukilteo Light Station opens for the season this weekend.

To celebrate opening weekend, members of the Mukilteo Historical Society will dress in costume and perform historical re-enactments at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday to teach regional history. Refreshments are planned. Mukilteo Mayor Joe Marine is expected to attend Saturday.

The lighthouse and gift shop hours are noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays through September. More info: mukilteohistorical.org.

Police help out Special Olympics

Arlington Police Department officers plan to join forces with Marysville and Lake Stevens police departments on Saturday for the annual Tip-A-Cop event, raising funds for the Law Enforcement Torch Run that benefits local Special Olympics athletes.

Officers will help wait tables from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Marysville Red Robin, 16814 Twin Lakes Ave. In addition, the three police forces will display some of their vehicles and equipment.

Vendors wanted for Marysville festival

Downtown Marysville’s 23rd annual HomeGrown Festival is accepting applications for vendors of home-grown produce or handmade items and artwork.

The festival is Aug. 8 and 9 on Third Street in downtown Marysville.

Arbor Day tree planting in Bothell

Celebrate Arbor Day by planting trees in William Penn Park in Bothell.

The event is begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at 19901 100th Ave. NE. Tools and light refreshments provided. Bring your own gloves.

The National Arbor Day Foundation recently honored Bothell with the Tree City USA award, the eighth consecutive year the city has received the national recognition.
