Seahawks to play on Thanksgiving Day

For the first time in 22 years, the Seattle Seahawks won’t have to make any Thanksgiving plans.
The NFL did that for them, announcing Tuesday that a Thanksgiving Day date with the Dallas Cowboys would be among the 16 games on the Seahawks’ regular-season schedule. The Cowboys play host to Seattle on Thursday, Nov. 27, at 1:15 p.m. PST.
The Thanksgiving game — the third in Seahawks’ history, and the first since a 1986 game at Dallas — highlights a schedule that is surprisingly light on prime-time games.
The Seahawks’ only two scheduled night games are at Tampa Bay on Oct. 19, and at Qwest Field for a Dec. 7 game against the defending AFC champion New England Patriots — both Sunday games. Seattle does not have a Monday Night Football appearance on its 2008 schedule.
The four-time defending NFC West champions open their regular season Sept. 7 at Buffalo and close the schedule Dec. 28 at Arizona.
The home schedule includes back-to-back games against division rivals San Francisco and St. Louis in September as well as rematches with both of last year’s playoff foes, Green Bay (on Oct. 12) and Washington (Nov. 23).
The bye week is on Sept. 28, which falls in Week 4 of the regular season.
