EVERETT — A driver heading the wrong direction in the southbound lanes of I-5 crashed head-on into another vehicle about 10 p.m. Wednesday night, according to the State Patrol.
The accident happened in the HOV lane near 75th Street SE, just north of Highway 526, also called the Boeing Freeway. The drivers of the two vehicles were taken to the hospital, but their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said.
The investigation forced the closure of all southbound lanes of the freeway for at least an hour and several lanes were expected to be closed longer while police pored over the scene, he said.
