COMMUNITY ROUNDUP: Arlington golfer finishes 23rd at NCAA D-III championships

Alex Hedlund, a freshman from Arlington, helped the University of Redlands men’s golf team place second at the 2008 NCAA Division III championships in Braselton, Ga.
The tournament was held May 13-16 at the Chateau Elan Resort.
Playing in a field of 120 golfers, Hedlund finished in a tie for 23rd place with a 72-hole total of 18-over-par 302. He shot rounds of 83, 74, 72 and 73 to earn a spot on the Division III PING All-America third team.
St. John’s University of Minnesota edged Redlands for the team championship, finishing with a score of 1,192. Redlands was three shots back at 1,195.
Softball
Riedeman honored: Alex Reideman, a freshman from Snohomish who pitches for Midland College, was named the All Region V West Most Valuable Player.
Midland is a junior college located in Midland, Texas
Riedeman also earned first-team All Western Junior Athletic Conference honors and helped the Lady Chaparrals claim a spot in the NJCAA Division I national tournament.
