50 years ago (1958)
The Board of Adjustment of the Everett Planning Commission approved a request for the construction of a 72-bed nursing home at 43rd Street and Colby Avenue.
The request was made by Mr. and Mrs. D.C. Bogard. There was no indication as to when construction would start on the new structure.
Intercity 4-H Club members met in the home of Bruce and Kathleen Sarvis on the Broadway Cutoff. Eddie Eberhard presided at the business meeting. Sandra Scoleri was welcomed as a new member. New officers elected were Louie Locke, president; Sandra Caudle, vice president; Martin Kline, secretary; Susan Bressler, corresponding secretary; Mary Dill, flag bearer.

Everett fisherman John Martinis Jr. and his wife Suzanne were ready for some sun, so they flew to Key West, Florida.
Despite the fact that it rained more than seven inches the first day, they had a wonderful time and did some fishing. A highlight for him was hoisting in a 65-pound amberjack.
Earning National Child Development Associate credentials Mary Miller and Charlotte Newport of Everett, and Cindy Traynor of Marysville, students in the early childhood program at Everett Community College.
