Kids: Get Movin’ and get in shape
A coalition of Snohomish County organizations, including the YMCA of Snohomish County, presents the fifth annual Get Movin’ program.
The free summer program starts Saturday with kickoff events at Everett Mall, the Alderwood mall and Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
It is aimed at helping Snohomish County families improve their health by adopting a more active, healthier lifestyle. The Get Movin’ goal is to encourage physical activity 30 minutes a day, five days a week all summer.
To register for the program, attend one of three events Saturday:
-Go to Everett Mall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
-Join in the Rotary Hi!5 Fitness Expo from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Alderwood mall.
-Enjoy activities to benefit Relay for Life, 2 to 4 p.m. at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
Additional registration will start June 9 at Lynnwood Recreation Center, Everett Parks and Recreation’s Forest Park Recreation Office, Marysville-North County Family YMCA, Monroe-Sky Valley Family YMCA and the Lake Stevens Boys &Girls Club.

HomeGrown fest calls for vendors
Downtown Marysville’s 23rd annual HomeGrown Festival is accepting applications for vendors of home-grown produce or handmade items and artwork.
The festival is Aug. 8 and 9 on Third Street in downtown Marysville.

College planning tips in Snohomish
Snohomish High School counselor Ken Hansen presents a Nuts and Bolts of College night at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the school, 1316 Fifth St., in Room A102.
Parents of students of any age attending any school in the district can learn more about making college plans.
Topics include school selection, financial aid, scholarships, the college application process and schools’ admission requirements.

Lake Stevens Farmers Market is set to open Thursday.
