EVERETT — Projects go faster with a lot of help.

That’s what workers at Windermere Everett South learned Friday as 51 of them took the morning off to work on a community project.

The agency’s Cheryl Durham said the group voted to make a new play area for a home in Everett that is used by Housing Hope to give families with children a place to live.

The group started at 8:30 a.m., painting the picket fence around the home and its porches. Members also replaced an aging play area with a new swing set; they put wood chips below to cushion any falls.

They also cleaned things up with a power washer.

Durham said the group donated all the materials and labor.

Project chairman Paul Rogers and his many helpers nearly had the work completed by noon.

Tyler Maider, 8, son of David Maider, who owns the real estate office, was the first to test the new play equipment.

Friday was Community Service Day for Snohomish County Windermere offices. Each one picked a project to work on that was intended to benefit the community.
