Mill Creek team to get pat on back
The 2008 Mill Creek Little League All-Star Team will be honored at a special meeting of the Mill Creek City Council.
The Mill Creek All-Stars battled their way to a semifinal game for the national Little League baseball championship in August before falling to Hawaii.
The 13 Mill Creek boys were among the country’s final 48 Little League teams to be playing in August.
The special meeting is planned for 7:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 15728 Main St., Mill Creek. The team will receive a City Council proclamation.
Oct. 5 to 11 will be Mill Creek Little League All-Star Team Week.
Slow going out of Canada on Sunday
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said there will be a southbound closure of Canada’s Highway 99 north of the Peace Arch port of entry on Sunday.
Expect the closure from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. for commemoration of the Canadian Peace and Police Officers annual Memorial Service.
The tribute is planned in the Peace Arch Park to honor officers in British Columbia and Canada who have died in the line of duty.
During the ceremony, northbound traffic will flow as usual. Southbound traffic will be detoured to another border crossing.
A resource fair for Mill Creek seniors
Join other seniors for coffee, goodies and conversation at the Mill Creek Senior Center’s Social and Resource Fair.
The free social is planned for 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the senior office in Snohomish County’s WSU Extension Service Auditorium in McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett.
Discover what the Mill Creek Senior Center offers and learn about our different activities including fitness, computer and support classes and day trips.
Also, get an update on the community’s effort to build a senior center in the Mill Creek community.

Learn about 4-H on Camano Island
The Camano Canines 4-H Club will visit with returning and potential members Thursday.
