Arlington City Council, Arlington School Board, Cascade Valley Hospital Board, joint meeting, 6:30 p.m. Monday, Byrnes Performing Arts Center, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd., Arlington. The elected officials plan to talk about the city’s joint emergency management plan, the hospital expansion project, the city’s commercial composting project and an update on the performing arts center.

Stanwood City Council, special budget workshop, 6 p.m. Thursday, in the board room of the Stanwood-Camano School District offices, 26920 Pioneer Highway. The council plans to take its first look at the city’s 2009 preliminary budget.
