Read all about it: Authors visit, sign books

Taking off: Jay Spenser, author of “The Airplane: How Ideas Gave Us Wings,” a new title from Smithsonian Books, plans to discuss how the puzzle of flight was solved by aviation’s pioneers. Gone fishing: RaeJean Hasenoehrl, author of “Everett Fishermen,” will meet with readers and present a photographic history of the city’s commercial fishing fleet at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. The hour-long event begins at 2 p.m. Saturday in the main library auditorium. Library hopping: Children’s author George Shannon will meet with children to discuss his books and the craft of writing on Saturday at two different libraries.

First, he plans to visit the Coupeville Library, 788 NW Alexander St., where he will discuss his books with all ages at 9:30 a.m., and then talk about the craft of writing with second and third graders at 11 a.m. Then he plans to hit the Oak Harbor Library, 1000 SE Regatta Drive, giving the same presentations at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
