Surgery planned for injured Bothell firefighter

BOTHELL — A firefighter injured Friday was reported in stable condition.

Fire Lt. Gary Wick, 52, was responding to a medical call when an awning loaded with snow collapsed on him, Bothell Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Allen said.

Wick was rescued quickly and taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries to his face and neck. He was awaiting surgery Saturday, Allen said.

Wick has been with the department for 20 years.
