Events planned to honor Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday. Here are some events planned in his honor:

Everett: Naval Station Everett offers a remembrance program at 11 this morning in the Grand Vista Ballroom in the Commons on the Navy base.

Speakers will be Lt. Cmdr. Aletha Tatge, Naval Station planning officer, and Capt. Thomas Mascolo, Naval Station commanding officer.

The program isn’t open to the public.

Langley: Volunteers are invited to join the staff from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Good Cheer Food Bank, 2812 Grimm Road, Langley. They will sort, clean and stock shelves. For more information, call 360- 221-6454 for more information.

Monroe: Members of the Boys &Girls Club of Monroe will clean up around the East County Senior Center Monday in King’s honor. Club members also competed in a recent competition to see who knew the most about King.

Seattle: Hear readings of Martin Luther King Jr.’s speeches at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Center House Theatre at Seattle Center, 305 Harrison St.
