An oven fire displaced a resident from a senior housing apartment complex in south Arlington on Thursday.

Crews were called just after 3 p.m. to the 18300 block of Smokey Point Blvd., Marysville Fire Department spokeswoman Kristen Thorstenson said.

Residents at the senior-living center were evacuated, she said.

Firefighters quickly put out the flames using an extinguisher. The resident was using the self-cleaning function of the oven when the entire oven caught fire.

The fire caused about $3,000 damage.

No one was hurt. The resident was staying with family while the mess was cleaned up.
