Arlington: Sale to benefit genealogical society
The Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society plans to join the Super Saturday Sale in downtown Arlington in hopes of raising money to support the society’s library.
The society’s garage sale is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 135 N. Olympic Ave.
The library will be open during the sale. Genealogy experts plan to be on hand to answer questions.

Marysville: Learn to make gliders
On Monday, there will be a glider-making workshop from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in room 309 at Marysville Middle School, 4923 67th St. NE.
Bernardo Malfitano, a Boeing Engineer plans to explain how lift, drag, balance and stability are optimized in an airplane, so that participants can make large cardboard gliders that fly straight and far. There will be a fly-off competition at the end with prizes for the winners.
The event is part of Marysville Middle School’s Monday Night Connections program.
Silvana: Events raise money for fair, hall
Silvana area residents are encouraged to participate in two fundraising events to help the Silvana Community Association pay for the upkeep of Viking Hall and raise money for the Silvana Community Fair.
A night of bingo is set for 6 p.m. Sunday at the hall on Pioneer Highway in Silvana.
An auction to support the fair is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. March 14, also at Viking Hall.

Stanwood: Flood assistance available
For people who were out of work because of the January floods, today is the last day to apply for unemployment benefits under a state-managed, federally funded disaster assistance program.
People interested in applying for the unemployment assistance can obtain an application by contacting the FEMA Disaster Unemployment Assistance Unit at 1-877-416-7274.
In addition, the Federal Emergency Management Agency reminds people who were flooded that the deadline to register for disaster assistance is March 31. Applicants can register by calling 1-800-621-3362.
