Monroe crash investigated as vehicular assault

MONROE — One person was taken to a hospital and another arrested after a crash on U.S. 2 early Friday morning.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating the collision that occurred around 4:30 a.m. near the intersection at Fern Bluff Road, trooper Keith Leary said.
A Monroe woman, 22, driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse apparently rear-ended a Volkswagen driven by a Yakima man, 21, Leary said.
Both cars crashed into the guardrail.
The man was taken to Valley General Hospital in Monroe. The woman was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault.
Troopers were at the crash scene for about an hour as they investigated.
