LYNNWOOD — Edmonds Woodway defeated Meadowdale 6-1 on Thursday in a Wesco South girls tennis meet, but scores can be deceiving.
Edmonds-Woodway got the results it wanted from its top two singles players, which created separation from Meadowdale, but both girls had to grind it out.
“Both one and two singles were very close,” Edmonds-Woodway coach Dan Crist said.
E-W’s No. 1, Amanda Waldron, trailed Olivia Bates 5-2 in the first set, still she would win the set 7-6 and take the second set 7-5. Michelle Nelson also trailed Josie Dow in the second match, but was able to take a three set victory 7-5, 2-6, 6-4.
“Those were certainly key matches, if we don’t get those two singles matches it’s a totally different match,” Crist said.
