Group awards Old Bags of Arlington

The Old Bags of Arlington, a group of fun-loving women from Arlington and Stanwood who raise money for those in need, will be the recipients of the Caring Community Award from Snohomish County Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program.

Awards are presented to members of the community whose donations of time and service make a significant difference in the lives of young children.

President Etta “Babe” Melhart and past president Sherry Cox of the Old Bags of Arlington will receive the award at the Celebrate the Successes dinner on April 23 at Everett Station.

Boy Scout earns Eagle award

Mac McDonald, a member of Boy Scout Troop 312 from Edmonds United Methodist Church, recently earned the distinction of Eagle Scout.

Mac worked with Clothes for Kids, a nonprofit organization that provides no-cost wardrobes to low-income families in South Snohomish County. Mac’s project included reworking a laundry room, reorganizing the workspace and added shelving to the display area.

Mac’s scouting career began in second grade. Along with all the other scouting activities, he has made two 50-mile hikes through the Pasayten Wilderness, and covered just as many miles completing the Bowron Lakes Canoe Circuit in Canada.
