Nominations: Who is looking good?

Nominations for The Mountlake Terrace Evergreen Awards program are now being accepted. The Evergreen Awards recognize five categories, including best-maintained residence, business and multifamily property, plus awards for sustainability and best transformation. The program also promotes conservation and enhances the city’s image as part of its sustainability strategy.

People can nominate their own property or one that they admire owned by someone else. Deadline for nominations is May 29. Download nomination forms at www.cityofmlt.com or go to City Hall, the Mountlake Terrace Library, or the Recreation Pavilion.

Volunteer: Set up Taste of Decadence

Volunteers are needed for the Village Community Services’ Taste of Decadence Fundraiser scheduled for June 26 in Arlington.

People are needed for two or more hours for setup, decorating, the silent auction, dessert check-in and cleanup. Those who volunteer are also invited to attend the event, which includes music by Voices of the Village.

Proceeds from the Taste of Decadence event help north Snohomish County adults who have disabilities achieve their potential at home, work and in the community. For more information, call Michelle Dietz-Date at 360-653-7752, ext. 14.

Volunteer: RSVP needs those over 55

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, sponsored by Catholic Community Services, is looking for people over 55 to take volunteer opportunities in the community.

Volunteers enrolled in RSVP receive free supplemental liability, accident and automobile insurance coverage while performing their volunteer duties, along with an ongoing personal recognition program and the chance to meet new people and learn new skills.

There are more than 400 RSVP volunteer opportunities throughout Snohomish County.

Volunteer: Time for spring cleaning

The second annual Spring Cleaning by the Boys &Girls Club will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the corner of First Street and Alder Avenue in Sultan.

Items such as gloves, garbage bags, hand sanitizer and maps will be available. Bottled water donated by the Boys &Girls Club will be available. Volunteers can expect a T-shirt and a raffle for Galaxy Cinema movie tickets.

Families and groups are encouraged to attend. High school students can get their community service requirements by taking part.

Benefit: Solstice aids Cocoon House

The first Summer Solstice Festival event will take place from noon to 8 p.m. June 27 at Under the Red Umbrella, 1502 Rucker Ave., Everett. Proceeds benefit Cocoon House, which serves homeless and at-risk youth.

The day will include a raffle, wine tasting, live music, a barbecue and an appearance by Emmy-winning artist Tim Noah.
