50 YEARS AGO (1959)

Gary M. Ginnett had joined Dean Witter and Co. as account adviser in the national investment firm’s Everett office. The appointment was announced by Norman O. Smith, manager of the local office. Ginnett, a native of Seattle, was a graduate of the University of Washington and served two years in the Air Force in the Korean conflict.

Officials from Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace recently met to discuss the impact the proposed Everett-Tacoma freeway would have on their communities. They were particularly concerned about the location of an access road to the Kingston ferry.

25 YEARS AGO (1984)

Thanks to an operation new to General Hospital of Everett, John Patterson of Snohomish was able to dance with his wife. Dr. Norvin Parr performed a balloon angioplasty, the first time the operation had been performed in the county.

Retired Snohomish elementary teacher Mary Stradley observed her 90th birthday as guest of honor at a party at her former school, Central Elementary. Although she retired in 1969, she had continued as a volunteer reading teacher at the school, giving her a total of 72 years of teaching in all.
